here's a short obit.-

Rapper Tupac Shakur was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996. The September 7 attack was the second time Shakur had been shot in less than two years. He died September 13 from respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary arrest after having one lung removed.

Fans loved him, and bought millions of his records. Shakur also made a film appearance in 1992's "Poetic Justice," and finished filming his role as a detective in the yet-to-be-released "Gang Related." But Shakur spent as much time in jail cells and court as he did on movie sets and concert stages.

Shakur was waiting for the appeal of a 1995 sexual assault conviction and a 120-day sentence for a 1996 probation violation at the time of his death.
