A cashier's check is equivalent to a money order; it is issued by a bank teller, for whatever amount of money you wish to buy, and can be used to pay for things. You might use a cashier's check if the person or business from whom you wish to make a purchase does not trust your credit, and fears that your personal check might bounce.
