Why do you substitute 0 for y when finding the x-intercept?

So that you have an equation = to 0 and can manipulate it in one variable.

Y = 2 X - 4

2X - 4 = 0

2X = 4

X = 2

check the graph and see that this is true. Works for all such functions.
