Why should you throw your purse in a tree while fighting?

It probably actually isn't a good idea. You will have to climb up there and get it, assuming that you do well enough in the fight and still have enough of your faculties intact. And so, would it not be true that anyone with the intention of taking your purse, and sufficient gumption, could be climbing that tree the minute the fight gets underway? I think you need to stop, and give some consideration to the question of whether you are truly prepared both for this fight, and for your responsibility to take care of whatever possessions you might have stowed in your purse. I suggest getting a safe deposit box, and stopping at the bank before arriving at the spot chosen for the showdown. Just before the fight starts, swallow the key. That way your risk of having your purse disappear is greatly reduced. Another possibility would be to booby trap the purse. Have it set to spray anyone who doesn't have your fingerprints with mace. That way the purse would stay nearby while you whoop up on the other gal (or guy). So, please don't ever throw your purse in a tree.
