According to the Social Security Administration, Jacob (22,470 births) and Emma (18,738 births) were the most popular boy and girl baby names respectively in the U.S. in 2008.
The next most popular boy names were Michael, Ethan, Joshua and Daniel. Emma, Isabella, Emily, and Olivia rounded out the top five girl names.
