How long ago did cavemen live?

Caveman as the stereotype has them generally didn't exist-people generally lived in huts and before that just lived in the wild. The nearest we get to the stereotype of the caveman was the neanderthal. They started about 600,000 years ago to 33,000 years ago, when they became extinct and Homo Sapiens Sapiens became dominant.
