Can people still undergo gastric bypass surgery if you are anemic pre surgery?

I have been anemic for most of my forty-eight years because I hate the severe constipation (everyone please pardon me) but I gladly took it about three weeks prior to my surgery a few weeks ago.

It can't be good to go in with iron poor blood and it is worth the hassle believe me. I had the surgery on October 24th and have lost two dress sizes, a lot of inches and fourteen pounds!

NO, your surgeon will not go ahead with the surgery if you are anemic at the time of surgery. They send you for blood work 2 -3 days before your surgery to check your levels. The night before my surgery my surgeon called to say my anemia was an issue & he cancelled my surgery. He gave me one month to get the level back up before he would test me again. I devoured all of the Iron rich foods I could get my hands on especially cashews, for the entire month as well as took mega doses of Iron (Ferrous Sulfate). My levels were high enough for me to have the surgery a month later. However immediatley after the surgery I required a blood transfusion because I had lost so much blood & my levels had dropped dangerously low! Ever since the surgery I have struggled with Anemia, have had to see a Hemotologist regularly and even underwent Iron Transfusions at the Cancer Center 4 hours a day 3 times a week, for 8 months straight.
