Why did people who lived hundreds of years ago think that the sun revolved around earth?

People in ancient times believed the sun revolved around the Earth due to their direct observations of the sky. They noticed that the sun appeared to rise in the east and set in the west, creating a natural assumption that it was moving around a stationary Earth. This geocentric model was further reinforced by philosophical and religious teachings of the time, which placed humans at the center of the universe.
