The age, political experience, and vocations of the 55 delegates of the Constitutional Convention ranged widely. Most had taken part in the American Revolutionary war and served as members of the colonial and state government as well as the Continental Congress and Confederation Congress. Most were trained as lawyers although there were plenty of businessmen, farmers, and plantation owners as well. Robert Morris and Roger Sherman signed all three of Americaâ??s founding documents. Founding father and first president George Washington was present as well. Notable founding fathers Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock were absent from this particular convention.
