They have their morning big poop which mine likes to take out of the cage on his perch as to not get his cage all poop filled. Then about every 20 minutes you can tell when they are going to poop by watching them. He seems to poop less in the cage because he only has his pellets in the cage. I feed him all his fresh food on his perch because it's easier to clean up. If they fly or glide if his wings or clipped they poop more often. Hopes this helps.
i will not recommend a African grey as a first pet they can be to loud, and demanding they need a lot of atention i recommend to start of with a cockatiel, budgie or similar size parrot if it is ur first and if u prefer African grey u have to be with at least 8 hours a day it is a hard job if ur thinking of buying one or if u already have one.
