Answer
Teen pregnancy in the "Old Days" wasn't taboo because most girls were married before they were 17 so it was common to start their family because large families were also common to help out on the farm.
The big issue today is how the child is to be supported and in this day and age it's helpful to have 2 grown educated people with the appropriate income to raise a child.
Stability is one of the most important aspects of raising children and unfortunately teens don't think about the outcome they generally think about what they want at the time.
It's easy to get a child it's harder to put it's needs first and provide the food, shelter, and stability it needs.
