What are the guidelines that distinguish acceptable behaviors from unacceptable or deviant behaviors?

It depends on the culture of the people. For example, a Christian may use the guidelines of The Bible or such and an Indian may use the guidelines made by the Indian public. Also, this can be affected by what allows the human race to evolve and survive. That's why some people are greedy. We are evolved to be greedy in nature as food could be scarce. So, in some cultures, marrying multiple people may be considered inappropriate in some areas but is acceptable in others. But in general, killing a large number of people is considered wrong in 99% of people in many places as we are evolved to help others survive.
