Edward Grim was a cleric and a contemporary of Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury. He was present at the cathedral during Becket's assassination on December 29, 1170. Grim attempted to defend Becket against the knights sent by King Henry II, and he was wounded in the process. His account of the event provides valuable historical insight into the circumstances surrounding Becket's martyrdom.
