Where is Halfway between New York and New Zealand?

Halfway between New York and New Zealand is the Pacific Ocean. To be more precise, the point in the middle is located pretty much halfway between Mexico City and Tahiti (a little bit closer to Tahiti than to Mexico City, actually). I could not find any island close to this point on my maps, so it appears it's just plain ocean there.
