Why might ritual dress help a Jew to worship?

In general, traditional Jews tend to dress modestly and in a dignified manner. This contributes to a milieu of decorum. More specifically, males cover their head as a reminder that God is present. In the morning prayers, a prayer-shawl (Tallit) is worn, to symbolically envelop the worshiper in prayer (see Talmud, Rosh Hashanah 17b); and Tefillin are worn in observance of the Torah's command (Deuteronomy 6:8).
