Can a yoga therapist make a medical diagnosis?

Yoga therapists, like other non-medically trained people, may know the signs and symptoms of a particular disease, especially if they have come in contact with it before, but they are not licensed to make medical diagnoses, run many diagnostic tests, or prescribe treatment. Having said that, since they may know the signs and symptoms of a disease you shouldn't completely discount their input. Take their input and when you see your regular doctor about your condition ask them about it. It is possible the doctor and the therapist are thinking of the same disease, it could be that the doctor thought of the therapist's diagnosis and ruled it out, or it could be that the doctor didn't think of the therapist's diagnosis. So it can't hurt to ask.

Currently, there are many licensed Yoga therapists, who are qualified in modern medicine. Such therapists can make a medical diagnosis and treat the patients appropriately. The licensed Yoga therapy training is not recommended for those students who have no medical training.
