The suffix "-mania" means madness or frenzy. It is the opposite of depression. It refers to a mood disorder often associated with Bipolar disorder (aka manic-depressive disorder). Examples of its use include "pyromania" which is an impulsive control disorder where the person deliberately sets fires to relieve tension, obtain a euphoric state or get relief from the state he is in.
