How do the prefixes and suffixes of words help define the meaning of the vocabulary words?

Prefixes change the meaning by doing something before or after. Ex:

Pre- before doing

Re- Doing again

A suffix does the opposite. Ex:

-ed- Did something Ex: He created... PIE :D
