Do you need good writing skills to be a doctor?

Writing is a form of communication. Clinical doctors need to effectively communicate with patients not only as part of informed consent but also as an adjunct to a patient's participation in their own healing and well being. Clinical doctors must also be concise and consistent with their written communication amongst peers. The combination of peer communication (proper written medical documentation) and patient communication (writing to patients on a level they understand) makes good writing skills an absolute necessity for every doctor.
