Where did poetry originate?

The oldest poetry discovered so far originates from around 1700 BC. This is just when the oldest discovered comes from, it's not necessary when poetry definitely originated from, since we can't say for definite, since the evidence would have been destroyed by now throughout history.

The oldest documented use of poetry discovered so far is a large body of texts called Vedas, which originate from Ancient India around 1700BC.
