Why do we not test for nucleic acids?

Testing for nucleic acids, such as DNA or RNA, can be technically complex and resource-intensive, often requiring specialized equipment and trained personnel. Additionally, nucleic acid tests may not provide immediate results, making them less suitable for rapid decision-making in clinical settings. Furthermore, in some cases, the presence of nucleic acids alone does not correlate with active disease or infection, necessitating complementary tests for accurate diagnosis.
