Where can child abuse happen?

Sadly, child abuse can happen anywhere children are found. It can be experienced within families with the abuser being a member of the family. That could be a sibling, a parent or someone related more distantly.

It can happen where someone has authority over a child. That can be a teacher, sports coach, a group supervisor or a volunteer in places such as youth groups.

Abuse can happen between children in some cases.

The good news is that most children are not abused. Despite that, if you believe that a child is being abused, speak to a trusted adult or organization. Share your concern and perhaps you could be preventing more abuse in the future. Don't ever make up an accusation. It's not funny and it's not clever to do that.
