According to the authorities and loads of bad examples alcohol has a very bad influence on the human body while boating - even bigger than on land. Alcohol is involved in one third of all recreational boating fatalities, as after drinking the judgement and the cognigtive abilities deteriorate, lack of coordination and increased reaction time can be seen. Vision is usually also corrupted and alcohol creates a physical sensation of feeling warmth, which might cause one not to feel the water's temperature so hypothermia can easily set in.
