When was the first female Scout leader?

In the Boy Scouts of America, women were unofficially involved with Cub Scouting from its inception in 1930. In 1936 the den mother position became official. The first paid professional was Eleanor Pratt, the curator of the Philmont Scout Ranch museums in 1965.

In 1973, most Cub Scout leadership positions were opened to women, and in 1976 the Cubmaster, assistant Cubmaster, assistant Scoutmaster and all commissioner positions were opened.

Catherine Pollard attempted to register as a Scoutmaster- after being rejected, she sued the BSA. The BSA won the case in 1987, but in 1988 they removed all gender restrictions for female leaders. Catherine Pollard was the first female Scoutmaster in 1988.
