How was duong van minh involved in the Vietnam war?

Called "Big Minh" because he was 6' tall. South Vietnamese GEN Duong Van Minh (1916-2001) was a temporary South Vietnamese leader of the country, immediately after President Diem was assassinated in 1963. He's probably most famous for his remark to the NVA commander, when the enemy's tanks came crashing through the presidential gates in April 1975, "...Sir, I'm General Minh, and am surrendering all of my forces to you!" The Communist Commander replied, "You don't have any forces to surrender with!" GEN Minh died in Pasadena, California at the age of 86.
