The US government provided a US Air Force 757 transport aircraft to ferry Nancy Pelosi from Washington DC to her home state of California and back, when she was Speaker of the House (2007 - 2011). A similar arrangement had previously been in place for the former Speaker, Republican representative Dennis Hastert (R-IL) following the September 11 attacks.
