Many different fabrics are referred to as denim however often incorrectly.
Trule denim is usually 100% cotton although earlier fabrics were woven from hemp.
The warp is indigo dyed and the weft is undyed and the fabric is woven into a twill weave usually 3/1 twill. Garments are usually constructed from loomstate fabric and washed or finished in many different ways depending upon the look desired.
