Should pool jets be pointed up or down?

The best way to position pool jets is slightly downwards (this is so the water that comes from your filter ends up at the bottom of the pool where disinfection is the strongest and then pointing in such away as to encourage a current that coincides with the skimmer that way more surface rubbish is removed before it sinks.
