There are no signs really, as a gay man "in the closet" (that is, hiding his homosexuality) will be anxious that no-one suspects he is gay and will give nothing away.

It's not easy to tell who is gay unless they choose to reveal it. For example, some men will go out of their way to exaggerate gay mannerisms, but that is usually because they are accepting of their sexuality and happy to let others see it.
