Why did sir Walter raliegh's first colony fail?

Sir Walter Raleigh's first colony, established on Roanoke Island in 1585, failed primarily due to a lack of adequate supplies and support from England. The settlers faced hostile relations with local Indigenous tribes, food shortages, and poor planning, which led to their inability to sustain themselves. After a year, the colony was abandoned, and the remaining settlers were evacuated back to England. The failure set the stage for the later, more famous "Lost Colony" of 1587.
