There are around 25 species of chipmunks, primarily classified within the genus Tamias. The most well-known species is the Eastern chipmunk (Tamias striatus), commonly found in the eastern United States and parts of Canada. Other notable species include the Western chipmunk (Tamias speciOSus) and the Siberian chipmunk (Tamias sibiricus). Chipmunks are small, striped rodents known for their cheek pouches and burrowing habits.
