Its hard to tell a fake one from a designer one, especially if the fake purse has all the small details that a designer one has but here are a few tips to tell the difference.
1) Material: usually genuine handbags are made out "good" material. Meaning if its supposed to be leather, make sure its leather and not pleather. If the bag is monogrammed, the letters will never be cut off. So if you have LV written all over the bag, half of the V will never get cut off.
Also look at the stitching, the stitching should NEVER look sloppy, or have random threads popping out.
2) Hardware: check the zippers, locks, screws etc. Most designers initial every piece of hardware. For ex. Louis Vouitton will have LV engraved on the zipper and screws.
3) Inside: Usually fakes put a lot of effort into fixing the outside and just put cloth on the inside. All genuine designer handbags put effort into making the inside look good too. This could be a certain monogrammed cloth...
4) Lastly, all designer handbags have serial numbers that are used to authenticate the product
