What is known as 'diya'?

If you are referring to Diya in context to Hindu culture then it is considered as a very auspicious lamp used during any holy ceremony for God, or when praying to God.

It basically a metallic or earthen cup shaped lamp, filled with oil and provided with a cotton wick soaked in oil, usually lighted with a match stick.

It is of great spiritual significance in Hindu culture.
