Eat right and exercise 60-90 minutes a day at 50%-85% of your maximum heart rate. 80 pounds is very ambitious and the likelihood of achieving something that large very much depends on your current weight. If you are say, 250 and wish to be 170, this will be much more difficult that dropping from 380 to 300 simply because the percent reduction in your caloric intake will be much greater- and your adjustment will be more difficult simply from the behavioral perspective. If you are in a position of being 80 pounds over your ideal body weight, dropping weight isn't just a matter of vanity, it's a matter of health. Don't get caught up in arbitrary deadlines, (such as 7 months), because you will have to maintain a drastically different, healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life in order to maintain this healthy body weight. If you are 80 pounds overweight, chances are you need to seriously reevaluate what you have been eating. Take a look at everything you eat in a day and for each item, ask yourself, "Why did I eat this"? Was what you ate a fruit, vegetable, whole grain, lean source of protein or monunsaturated fat? Or was it instead enriched wheat flour, a high-saturated fat product or high-sugared food that you ate because it "tasted good"? It's true that there are many products a healthy diet should eschew, but in there place are so many healthy products that should be embraced. By making these substitutes, skim milk or soy in place of full-fat dairy, whole grains instead of enriched wheat flour, oil and canola oil instead of trans fats- you can substantially improve your diet without really altering what you are eating. Join a gym, and get with a personal trainer who can help you reach your goals. You can reach your ideal weight in a reasonable amount of time- but it requires making permanent alterations to your lifestle. Remain motivated and persistent- eventually it will come naturally to you.
