John W. Leedy (born March 8, 1849 in Richland County, Ohio; died March 24, 1935 in Edmonton, Alberta) succeeded Edmund N. Morrill as the fourteenth Governor of Kansas, serving between January 11, 1897 and January 9, 1899. Following the end of Leedy's term as Governor, William E. Stanley (born December 28, 1844 in Knox County, Ohio; died October 13, 1910 in Wichita, Kansas) became the fifteenth Governor of Kansas, serving between January 9, 1899 and January 12, 1903.
