Who is above the Imam?

In Islamic theology, particularly within Shia Islam, the Imam is regarded as a divinely appointed leader with spiritual and temporal authority. However, the ultimate authority is believed to lie with Allah, the Creator. In Sunni Islam, leadership is not centralized in an Imam but rather in the community, with scholars and leaders (like caliphs) serving as guides. Thus, while the Imam holds a significant position, he is ultimately subordinate to Allah.
