Can you buy a non-profit organization?

You cannot "buy" a non-profit organization in the traditional sense, as they are not designed to generate profit for owners or shareholders. However, you can acquire control of a non-profit through a merger or by taking over its leadership, often with the organization’s board of directors' approval. Additionally, individuals can also create or invest in non-profit organizations through donations or grants, but ownership remains with the non-profit's mission and its board.
