Was John the Apostle related to Jesus?

No. John was the son of Zebedee and Salome, and the younger brother of James. About half way through His 3 years of ministry, Jesus chooses a group of 12 men whom He will develop close discipling relationships. John, his brother James, and Peter enter into a more intimate relationship with Jesus than the other disciples, but they were not related.
