Why doesn't the government help the poor people?

Because the government wants their votes. Trillions of dollars have been spent to "help the poor people", but it just doesn't work. Never has, never will. All it does it make the poor people dependent on the government, so that when the first Tuesday in November rolls around, they will all vote for the Democrats. If the government really wanted to help poor people, it would cut off the welfare checks and make them get off their lazy butts and work for a living.
