Starting a career in transcription seems like an attractive proposition to many. Here are the required skills for a transcriptionist to start:

• Listening Skill: Transcription involves converting audio file to text, so you need a good ear with sharp listening skills.
• Language Skills: A good command over language skills in terms of vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation is also required.
• Typing Skill: An average typing speed of 75 wpm is required to begin with. If you have a fast touch typing speed, then it's a plus for you.

Apart from that, if you have good research skills,sentence construction and formatting skills as per your client requirements, then it's a plus.
