What are 10 commandments and what are they for?

The Ten Commandments are a set of biblical principles found in the Hebrew Bible, specifically in the books of Exodus and Deuteronomy. They serve as moral guidelines for ethical behavior and a framework for living in accordance with God's will. The commandments cover duties to God, such as worship and observance of the Sabbath, as well as interpersonal responsibilities, like honoring parents and prohibiting murder, theft, and false witness. They are foundational to Judeo-Christian ethics and have influenced legal systems and moral codes throughout history.
