What is the significance of the serpent Naga in Islamic culture?

The Naga is part of ancient Hindu/Indian mythology and has nothing to do with Islam. In fact, Islamic scholars have long seen the Indian Naga as being a polytheistic deity that it would be a sin (shirk) to worship.
