Why is Atlantis a mystery?

Because it was an strange civilization. No civilization has never had contact with Atlantis civilization mainly because it has been said to exist in areas of the globe that we have only recently (last 150 - 300years) been able to reach so no civilization could have met them unless the atlantians came to them which apparently never happened, because if they had then there would have been much more evidence for it than there is now
