What is radial styloiditis?

Radial styloiditis, also known as de Quervain's tenosynovitis, is a condition characterized by inflammation of the tendons located on the thumb side of the wrist, particularly those passing through the first dorsal compartment. This condition often results in pain and swelling near the radial styloid process, making it difficult to perform activities that involve gripping or pinching. It can be caused by repetitive hand movements or overuse and is commonly treated with rest, splinting, anti-inflammatory medications, and physical therapy. In some cases, corticosteroid injections or surgery may be necessary for relief.
