Did Jacques Cartier die

Two famous Jacques Cartier's have lived and died:

- French explorer of Canada, Jacques Cartier (1491-1557) died in France after his final voyage, in which he mistook iron pyrite and quartz crystals for gold and jewels.

- French jeweler Jacques-Théodule Cartier (1887-1942) was the grandson of the founder of Cartier's, and with his brother Pierre developed the brand name worldwide.
