How long should you wait for a proposal if you have been dating a guy for almost six years and you have talked about marriage but he has never proposed?

Just how important is marriage to you? Are you willing to stay with this man forever if he never wants to get married? It doesn't necessary mean he isn't committed, some men just don't want to get married as they believe it will provide complications in an otherwise happy relationship. If you love him then I see no reason no leave him if he doesn't want marriage - he may not feel ready. If on the other hand your are not happy anyway then perhaps it is time to leave, be honest, tell him you want to marry some day, ask how he feels, maybe there is more to it than just not being ready? If he can get the milk for free, why buy the cow! Or he just doesn't want tomake the commitment.
