What impact does the warden have on the quality of life in the prison system?

In my opinion the prison officer has a very powerful impact on the quality of life in the prison system, prisoners rely on prison officers for everything, they are like children. Depending on the officer they may have a good impact on the prisoner or a bad one... To me it is just my job to keep the prisoner safe from harm (from themselves &/or others) to make sure they get their entilements, to make sure they are securely within the compounds of the prison, that they are treated humanely and that they are still alive at the end of my shift.
