Foremost among the science agencies of the Philippines is the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). The department has many affiliate offices under it.
The DOST has 5 sectoral planning councils, namely: the Philippine Council for Aquatic and Marine Research and Development; Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development; Philippine Council for Health Research and Development; Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development; and the Philippine Council for Advanced Science Technology Research and Development.
It has 7 research and development institutes, namely: the Advanced Science and Technology Institute; Food and Nutrition Research Institute; Forest Products Research and Development Institute; Industrial Technology Development Institute; Metal Industry Research and Development Center; Philippine Nuclear Research Institute; and the Philippine Textile Research Institute.
It also has 7 service institutes and 2 advisory bodies.
