You should not take more than 4000 mg of acetaminophen a day. Taking more, especially 7000 mg or more, can lead to a severe overdose if not treated.
4000 mg of acetaminophen corresponds to 8 extra-strength tablets/caplets or about 12 regular strength tablets/caplets. Since most people take them 2 at a time, you should not take extra-strength tablets more than 4 times in 24 hours (every 6 hours) or regular strength tablets more than 6 times a day (every 4 hours).
Even those levels are not good over a prolonged period of time - so if you have been taking the maximum recommended amounts for more than a few days, you probably want to consult with a doctor or nurse or pharmacist before you continue taking that much.
