Why was Louis XIV considered the most powerful monarch?

because he declared ' l'etat c'est moi' thus taking absolute control of the state. However, this is not documented, just my opinion: he was led to believe that he was in total power by the courtiers who provided him Ballet, women and other pleasures- like being present to the " lever"- what a dillusional king- he has very disastrous wars and after him the monarchy became weaker- poor Louis XVI- to inherit such a mess. No wonder he could not put things right!!!!
